How to Order Custom Pleated Fabric

If you are planning on hiring our services to pleat fabric, you should read this page first.  This document will layout the steps to ensure the fastest way to get your order processed.

Pleating Order Forms: If you have ordered pleating from us before, download the correct form for the style of pleating you need and fill in all required information.

If this is your FIRST TIME ORDERING, please go to Step 1.

A separate form must be filled out for each pleat style and fabric type in your order. If you are shipping your fabric to us, all forms must be included in the package to avoid any potential delays.

Step 1. Selecting your pleat style:  You must know exactly the kind of pleating you want before fabric, price or turnaround time can be discussed.  The most efficient way to do this is to browse through the gallery below.  The drawings are segmented by the style of pleating. Your selection will take you to another page with additional  photos and options you need to consider for your order.

In addition, you can read our textbook Pleating: Fundamentals for Fashion DesignPleating 101, or look at our Instagram feed.

Step 2. Fabric Selection & Quantity:  Typically people send us their own fabric, but we can sometimes source fabric for you as requested.  Let us know exactly what kind of fabric you plan on sending or require.  We need information such as fiber content, width of the goods and yardage.  If you are ordering sunburst pleating and want to know required yardage for each panel, we recommend downloading our iPhone app myProductionPal from the Apple App Store.  We will deduct the cost of the app from your order if you let us know before your order ships out.

Step 3. Fill Out The Order Forms:  Once you know what kind of pleating you want and have filled out the forms with all the necessary data, call us at 646-580-9766 so we can review your order.  We will consider items such as direction of pleating, and whether the hemming is to be done before or after pleating. If you are inexperienced with garment construction, we offer consulting services to assist you in creating the perfect pleated garment.

Step 4.  Shipping Your Fabric to Us: When shipping your fabric, make sure it is packaged in a way to minimize wrinkling during the shipping process.  Shipping on a roll is not required, especially for smaller yardages, but for certain fabrics it is recommended.  Silk taffeta, tulle and silk satin face organza are notorious for wrinkling quite easily.  If your fabric arrives excessively wrinkled, it will delay your order and increase the cost, as it will need to go through an additional process of being pressed flat or properly rolled.  Your shipping method can be UPS, Federal Express or US Postal Service.  For expensive fabrics we recommend UPS or FEDEX.

It is very important to attach an order form to EACH piece of fabric you send us.  During our telephone conversation (Step #3), we will advise you on what to write on your order form.  If you cannot download our order form, you should at least place a hand written note with your name, address, telephone, email and specifics about the type of pleating you need.

Step 5. Payment:  After your order is complete and ready to ship, we will email you an invoice that can be paid by credit card online. If we are sourcing fabric for you, an advanced deposit will be required.

Step 6. Shipping Methods for Your Pleated Fabric: Our default shipping method is UPS, but we can also ship FEDEX and USPS.  Ultimately the decision is made based on the size of your fabric, delivery date requirements and destination.  For smaller orders that are shipped via USPS, payments are made through Etsy.com.
